Steps to Complete a Backflow Installation

  • Preparation and Site Assessment:

Conduct a thorough site inspection, take photographs, and compile a material list. Obtain any necessary permits for the installation. Gather all required materials and notify the site owner/manager of the planned installation.

  • Water Shutdown, Installation, and Testing:

Shut down the water supply to the area where the backflow device will be installed. Inform the site manager and any affected parties about the temporary water disruption. Install the backflow prevention device in accordance with local codes. Gradually restore water pressure to the system once installation is complete. Perform an initial test to ensure the backflow device is functioning correctly. Record all test results and submit them to the local municipal backflow program.

  • Final Inspection and Document Handover:

If required, schedule a final inspection with local officials to verify that the installation meets all regulatory standards. Provide the owner/site manager with all relevant documentation, including installation reports, test results, and maintenance instructions. Arrange any necessary follow-up inspections or maintenance.
